Veda's are the way to become one with BRAHMAN. Yajurveda Upakarma is regarded as the day of commencement of the Veda study semester. It is observed on the full moon day of the month of Shravana. This day is related to Lord Vishnu as Vishnu puran says that Lord Vishnu took the form of a horse to restore the Veda. It has been said that, the Veda's were stolen from Lord Brahma by the asuras and then Lord Vishnu took the form of a horse, this incarnation is called Hayagriva or “horse-head”.
Because of this "Upakarma" is also celebrated as Hayagriva’s emergnece day.
